DETAILS OF THE COMPETITION
1. Bharathanatyam Dance – Group dance can contain maximum of 8 students per group. Padham, Keerthanam, Pushpanjali, Alaripu, Jathiswaram, Shabdham, Thillana, Varnam (Only those students who perform thri-kaala jathi of a varnam with sanchari, will be given time duration maximum of 10 mins) and any such traditional Bharathanatyam item can be performed for minimum of 3 minutes and maximum of 5 minutes duration. Audios along with participant name / Group name must be submitted to suhaacademychennai@gmail.com on or before June 1st 2024 Saturday.
Salangai can be worn if salanga pooja is completed. Film classical songs or Instrumental music are not allowed. Participants must come in Bharathanatyam costume with makeup and hairdo.
2. Vocal – Shruthi box will be given by us, students can tune it to their comfortable pitch before singing and Talam must be performed while singing. Performance should be min 3 minutes to maximum 5 minutes duration. Based on the performance, questions on raga, taala and composer will be asked during the competition for Grade IV onwards.
• Carnatic – Any Keerthanai / Krithi (Complex songs with sangadhis)
• Devotional / Bhajans (Light Carnatic songs without much complex sangathis)
• Thirupaavai or Thirupugazh (any one)
• Sloka – Sloka can be a combination of small slokas or a big sloka for Max 3 mins. It must be tuned to a ragam and sung with the taalam (example Bramma Murari).
• Varnam – (Any varnam / any language) preferably two speeds.
• Patriotic song – Film songs are not allowed.
POINTS TO NOTE
1. Winners list will be published on SUHA ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS facebook page within 7 days of the competition. Prize Distribution for all the winners will be held during our Academy’s Annual Day celebration on JULY 6th 2024 – SATURDAY at Dakshinamoorthy A/C Auditorium – PS Higher Secondary school, Mylapore.
2. Best performers from the winners will be given a slot during the annual day to perform in front of the Celebrity Chief Guests –

• Dancer / Founder of VivRtti Dance Company Mrs. KAVYA MURALIDHARAN.
3. Prize winners will receive a Winner certificate and a trophy. Contestant who wins in most number of competitions would be given a Multi Talent award. Contestant who participates in most number of competitions will receive a Talent award.
4. All participants will be given a participation certificate on the spot.
5. Traditional attire to be followed for singing and dancing competition. Parents and students are encouraged to come in the traditional attire on the day of Annual Day event as well.
6. Judging criteria for Music competition will be presentation, Ragam, Bhavam, Taalam, Shruthi.
7. Judging criteria for Dance competition will be presentation (synchronization, costume, accessories, hairdo, make-up, ulta/mehandi), bhavam, footwork, complexity of item, araimandi, Anga sudham (body postures), space utilization.
8. Food stalls will be put up for snacks, juice, tea, coffee and lunch by Druva Educational & Public Charitable Trust (NGO) who are physically challenged. Participants can purchase refreshments to support the NGO.
9. Registration forms for the competition will have to be filled using the google form link mentioned below and submitted before JUNE 1st 2024 Saturday.
