Municipality of Montana – Bulgaria, announces a call for entries for the art contest “The music and dances of my people”.
The contest started off as just a regional event in 2000 until its reach gradually increased. Since 2006 it has become international. In its previous editions, almost 14000 children from 35 countries have taken part – among them Egipt, Italy, India, Kuwait, Moldova, Russia, the US, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Norway, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Iran, Spain, China, Latvia, Russia, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, the Philippines, Czech Republic, etc.
The children should send their drawings to our postal address (mentioned below). The paintings need to present the traditional dances and music of your country.
We will be happy if the children focus their art works on the topic “Brass bands (wind orchestras)” because of the drawing competition is an accompanying event of our International Festival of wind orchestras “Diko Iliev”.
There will be two age groups in the contests – between 7 to 11 years and 12 to 15 years. The prizes can be either a plaque with the contest or an honorary diploma. Moreover, the Municipality of Montana is engaged to be the host of the winners with the first award in the two age groups and one accompanied person (teacher or parent) during the International Festival of wind orchestras “Diko Iliev”.
Everyone can present no more than 3 art works. For children from the 1st age group the format of the drawing has to be 25 х 35 cm, and for the participants in the 2nd age group – 35 х 50 cm. There are not limitations about the technique and genre of the art works. Тhey have to be sent to the postal address of the Municipality of Montana not later than April 1st, 2020:

The professional hanging-committee from 5 members will evaluate the art works. The committee will bear in mind mainly the following criterions: aesthetic qualities of the drawings;self-dependence of the process of creation; original approach to the topic and appealing idea .
The professional hanging-committee defines the winners. The Municipality of Montana – Bulgaria, gives the following award for each of the two age groups:
– 1st place – gift, a plaque of the 17th International festivities of brass orchestras “Diko Iliev” and a honorary diploma
– 2nd place – gift and a honorary diploma
-3rd place – gift and a honorary diploma
– Joint award (for school, art studio or club, team): Diploma for exceptionally successful complex participation
The awards will be handed in during the official ceremony of the opening of the 17th International festivities of brass orchestras “Diko Iliev” in the middle of June, 2020. In case that the children from foreign countries could not attend on the ceremony, their awards will be given to the culture attachés of the embassy of the respective state, in order to sent the award to the winner.
The awarded art works will be delivered to the Municipality Art Gallery and they will be reckoned in the fund of the department “Children Art”. The art works which have been awarded the first 50 places in the contest will be shown in the exhibition in the gallery of the Association of the visual artists in Montana.
The Municipality of Montana is engaged to be the host of the winners with first award in the two age groups and one accompanied person (teacher or parent). It will ensure the accommodation and meal (full board) during their stay in the city in the period of the 17th International festivities of brass orchestras “Diko Iliev” in June 2020.
