OJAS Kids Tamil Cultural Fest is an initiative by OJAS Eduland with an objective to nurture TAMIL CULTURE among kids.

Events are designed in such a way to inspire kids to understand and learn Tamil culture.

All the age group can participate in all the items.

Events in Detail:

1. Drawing / Colouring
Time: 1 – 2 pm
Topic : Thiruvalluvar or Valluvarkottam
Participants have to bring Pen / Pencil / drawing pad & colouring materials.
Printed picture will be provided for Pre.K.G to UKG students for colouring.
Quarter size plain chart will be provided to 1st to 12th std students for drawing.

2. Poster Creation
Time: 2 – 2.20 pm
Topic : Thirukural
Participants have to create the Thirukural in pictorial form. Printed pictures or stickers or drawings or any art material can be used for poster creation.
Participants should use ONLY QUARTER size chart for creating posters.

3. Traditional Games
Time: 2 – 2.20 pm
Participants have to explain or demonstrate a traditional Tamil game like
Pambaram,
Aadu-Puli Aatam,
Pallanguzhi,
Nungu Vandi,
Kallangal (5 stones),
Dhayam or any other traditional Village games.

Participants have to bring a play toy or Printed chart of the game (Quarter size chart). It can be a cut paste picture from any magazine.

4.Traditional Food
Time: 2.20 – 2.40 pm
Participants have to bring any one traditional Tamil food like
Kambu koolu,
Kelvaragu Adai,
Kondakadalai sundal,
Parupu Adai or any other traditional Tamil food made from home and they have to explain about the ingredients and benefits of the food.

5. Tamil Handwriting contest
Time: 2.40 – 3.00 pm
Paper & Text for writing will be provided
Participants have to bring writing pad & Pen / Pencil.

6. Write a Poem (Kavidhai)
Time: 3.00- 3.20 pm
Topic : Than-neer ( water)
Participants have to write a short poem (Kavidhai) in Tamil about the given topic.
(Minimum 4 lines to maximum 12 lines)
A paper for writing will be provided.
Participants have to bring the writing pad & Pen / Pencil.

7. Fancy dress
Time: 3.00- 3.20 pm
Topic : Tamil Historic characters like Poets, Freedom fighters, etc.

8. Bharathiyar Kavithaikal ( Time : not to exceed 2.5 minutes )
Time:3.30-3.50 pm
Participants have to recite any Bharathiyar Songs. They have to submit the same in an A4 size paper.
If needed, they can see the lyrics and recite.

9. Tamil Songs ( Time : not to exceed 2.5 minutes )
Time: 3.50 – 4.10 pm
Topic : Kavignar pattukottai kalyanasundaram songs
Participants have to sing any one of Kavignar pattukottai kalyanasundaram songs.
They have to submit the same in an A4 size paper
If needed, they can see the lyrics and sing.

10. Tamil Calendar
Time: 4.10 – 4.30 pm
Participants have to bring a Tamil calendar (which can be handwritten or printed) and explain any one of the following topics:
Topic name:
Names of the Weeks & Months or
Names of the Tamil years (60 years) or
Names of the seasons along with the month in which that season is coming.
If needed, they can see the text and say.

11. Pon-mozhigal – Explain it with meaning
Time: 4.30 – 4.50 pm
Participants have to explain and submit Tamil Ponmozhi (wise-words or proverbs) in an A4 size paper. If needed, they can see the lyrics and sing.
Playschool – UKG : Say any 1 pon-mozhi and explain the meaning of it.
1st  – 3rd  std : Say any 3 pon-mozhi. Out of which 1 should be explained.
4th  – 6th  std : Say any 4 pon-mozhi. Out of which 2 should be explained.
7th  – 9th  std: Say any 5 pon-mozhi. Out of which 3 should be explained.
10th – 12th  std: Say any 7 pon-mozhi. Out of which 4 should be explained.

12. Information about Tamil Culture
Time: 4.50 – 5.10 pm
Participants have to bring an A4 size paper or printed poster with the information about any specific Tamil Culture.
They have to explain and submit the information (Topic : Tamil language, history, people, art, epics , or even about any characters from historic Tamil novels can be selected.)

13.Naalayira Divya Prabhandam. ( Time : not to exceed 2.5 minutes )
Time: 5.10- 5.20 pm
Participants have to recite Naalayira Divya Pribandam. ( Minimum 1 pasuram )

14. Review a Tamil Book ( Time : not to exceed 2.5 minutes )
Time: 5.20- 5.40 pm
Participants have to bring a Tamil book and have to talk about the book in short.

15. Tamil Speech Contest
Time: 5.40 – 6 pm
Topic: Kavignar Pattukottai Kalyanasundaram.
Participants have to speak about Kavignar Pattukottai Kalyanasundaram.
(Time : not to exceed 2.5 minutes).

16. Thirukural Recitation
Time: 6 – 6.30 pm
Playschool – UKG
Say any 5 Thirukural
1st  – 3rd  std
Say any 6 Thirukural out of which 1 should be explained with meaning
4th  – 6th  std
Say any 8  Thirukural out of which 2 should be explained with meaning
7th  – 9th  std
Say any 10 Thirukural out of which 3 should be explained with meaning
10th – 12th  std
Say any 12 Thirukural out of which 4 should be explained with meaning

Registration fee is Rs.200/- for a participant per event (for all the age group).
