Spell Dino – A Spell Bee contest hosted by JBL Academy and Hickory Dickory Pre School

DATE OF COMPETITION – 07 APRIL 2024

TIMING 10:00 A.M ONWARDS

ROUND 1: (10 AM)

WRITTEN TEST:

Category wise, all the participants will be seated together in a room and the Participants will be given a sheet with the following question types.

Category A: Grade 1 & 2

1. Write the missing letters by seeing image

2. Find the word with right spelling

Total questions: 20

Total Marks: 20

Time Limit: 30 Minutes

Those who score more than or equal to 15 marks in Round 1 will be eligible for Round 2.

Category B: Grade 3 & 4

1. Write the missing letters by meaning.

2. Unscramble the given scrambled words by meaning.

Total questions: 20

Total Marks: 20

Time Limit: 30 Minutes

Those who score more than or equal to 15 marks in Round 1 will be eligible for Round 2.

Category C: Grade 5 & 6 and Category D: Grade 7 & 8

1. Match the words to their meaning.

2. Crossword puzzle

Total questions: 20

Total Marks: 30

Time Limit: 30 Minutes

Those who score more than or equal to 15 marks in Round 1 will be eligible for Round 2.

ROUND 2: (12:00 PM)

DICTATION WORDS:

The eligible participants from Round 1 will be seated together with a sheet of paper. The Organizing member will dictate the words and the participant must write the same. Category wise the words will be dictated.

Total Marks: 30

Time Limit: 20 Minutes

Those who score more than or equal to 25 marks in Round 2 will be eligible for Round 3.

ROUND 3 – FINAL ROUND:

SPELL THE WORD – TIME OUT ROUND – 1 MINUTE PER PERSON

Each participant will be given 1 minute time. The Organizing member will dictate the words according to the category of the participant and the participant must spell the words orally and correctly in the given time. The top 3 who answered correctly will be announced as the first, second and third place.

Terms and conditions:

· The host will tell the word only once. No repetition of words.

· If the participant is not sure about the words, they are allowed to ask the hint – example, meaning or part of speech to understand the word.

· Final round – the level hardness will be equal and age appropriate, same word will not be repeated for the other participants.

· Words asked in the competition are based on the study material provided only. The soft copy of the study material will be sent on registration.

· Participants who enrolled must adhere to the given time slot.

· No refund or change of time and date for the enrolled participants who are unable to attend the competition.

Rules & Regulations:

1. Offline competition date – 7th April 2024. Prior registration is mandatory.

3. Registration fees – Rs. 249/- per participant. On registering, a soft copy of the word list will be sent to the participant’s email id.

4. Timing of the event – Event starts at 10.00 AM onwards.

5. Groups and classes:

a. Category A – Class 1 & 2

b. Category B – Class 3 & 4

c. Category C – Class 5 & 6

d. Category D – Class 7 & 8

6. Events will be held offline in Hickory Dickory Pre school premises.

No spot registration or payment entertained. The amount will be refunded only if the organizers cancel the event for any reason.

8. A Separate WhatsApp group will be created for each Category. The eligible winners to next round will be informed within 1 hour of the completion of previous round.

9. The Round 3 will happen post lunch. If there are many finalists, the timing might be changed for Round 3. Organizers’ decision is final.
