DETAILS OF COMPETITION

1. Bharathanatyam Dance – Padhams, Pushpanjali, Alaripu, Jathiswaram, Shabdham, Thillana, Varnam ( Only those students who perform thri-kaala jathi of a varnam with sanchari, will be given time duration maximum of 10 mins) and any such traditional bharathanatyam item can be performed for minimum of 3 minutes and maximum of 5 minutes duration. Audio must be clear and use speakers to be audible. Salangai can be worn if salanga pooja is completed. Film classical songs or Instrumental music are not allowed.

2. Vocal – Shruthi must be audible and Talam must be performed while singing. Performance should be min 3 minutes to maximum 5 minutes duration. Questions on raga, taala and composer based on the performance will be asked during the competition.

• Carnatic – Any keerthanai / Krithi (Complex songs with sangadhis)

• Devotional / Bajans (Light Carnatic songs without much complex sangathis)

• Thirupaavai or Thirupugazh (any one)

• Sloka – Sloka can be a combination of small slokas or a big sloka for Max 3 mins. It must be tuned to a ragam and sung with the taalam.

• Bharathiyar song

• Varnam – (Any varnam / any language) preferably two speeds.

• Aalap, Nerval and Karpanai Swaras – Any one Raga Aalapanai (3-4mins max), neraval for a particular line and Karpanai swaras. Full Keerthanam or Song will not be asked.

• Mumoorthigal Krithis – Students must be prepared with any 1 song of the Mumoorthigal (Sri Thyagaraja Swami, Deekshithar or Shyama Shashtri).

POINTS TO NOTE

1. Winners list will be published on SUHA ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS facebook page within 7 days of the competition. Prize Distribution for all the winners will be held during our Academy’s Annual Day celebration around June last week (date will be communicated later) and the Best performed winners will be chosen and provided a slot during the annual day to perform in front of the Chief Guest / Celebrity. Contestant who participates and wins more number of competitions would be given a Multi Talent award.

2. All participants will be given a participation e-certificate which will be sent through Email.

3. Traditional attire to be followed for singing and dancing competition.

4. Judging criteria for Music competition will be presentation, bhavam, Taalam, shruthi.

5. Judging criteria for Dance competition will be presentation (costume, accessories, make-up, ulta/mehandi), bhavam, synchronization to rhythm, footwork, complexity of item, araimandi, Anga sudha (body postures), space utilization.

6. Registration forms for the competition will have to be filled using the google form link mentioned below and submitted before MAY 25^th 2022, WEDNESDAY.
