NTSE consist of Mental Ability Test(MAT) and Scholastic Ability Test(SAT).

Scholarships: On the basis of the results of NTSE, 1000 scholarships will be awarded.
For Class XI and XII, Rs. 1250/- per month will be awarded as scholarship.
For Under Graduate and Post Graduate students, a sum of Rs. 2000/- per month will be awarded as scholarship.
For Ph.D. Candidates, amount of scholarship will be fixed as per UGC norms.
There are no restrictions like parental income, government school, domicile etc.
Reservations:
15% scholarship reservation for SC candidates, 7.5 % for ST candidates and 3% for physically challenged students.
There are 2 levels of the examination:
1. At Stage 1, Selection is done based on the written examination conducted at state level/ UT.
2. At Stage 2, those qualified at stage 1 will write final examination conducted by NCERT.
Tentative Dates of Applying : By July – August every year
State Level Examination tentatively in October/November
National Level Exam tentatively during May.
